Hold Me Closer, NecromancerHold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

More funny than scary -- and now along with Sam, I know what a necromancer is.... He learns a lot about love, life and family along the way.

RECENT 5-STAR READS...

  • Empress of Asia by Adam Lewis Schroeder - Canadian merchant seaman Harry Winslow recounts his wartime experiences in Asia and how he met his lifelong love Lily. Before Lily dies she tells him that should that he should visit an old acquaintance from POW camp, someone he thought had been dead these many years...and why had she been making trips to Thailand?
  • Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett - Nothing like Terry Pratchett to make you laugh out loud. Clever, funny fantasy.
  • The Bayou Trilogy by Daniel Woodrell. Woodrell's heroes are flawed but try to make the best bad decisions they can in the circumstances. His novels set in the Ozarks are sometimes referred to as "country noir" - this trilogy about the Shade family could be called "swamp noir". An excellent writer.
  • The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. A love story between two teens who are not defined by their disease. Beautifully written, funny, poignant. An excellent read.
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - The first in this trilogy for teens, followed by Catching Fire and Mockingjay. An un-put-downable read!
